Preschool Screenings set for August 3, 4 and 28

The Newark City Schools Preschool program will be completing screenings for children with suspected disabilities on August 3, 4, and 28. If you suspect your child might have a disability and want to have him or her screened by the district, please call 740-670-7025 to schedule an appointment. Due to the continued restrictions on the number of children allowed in a preschool classroom at one time, the district is not screening typically developing children at this time. Once these restrictions are lifted, the district will be scheduling screenings for our typical placements. We will continue to update the district website with any changes. More +

Newark Reads! student reading camp set for July

Newark City Schools is providing Newark Reads!, a summer reading camp for students, this July. This year the camp will be a virtual reading camp focused on exploring new and engaging books to learn more about the world and about ourselves. Students will have weekly Zoom sessions with teacher mentors and their fellow readers to discuss their reading and share out their thinking. Don't worry; there are no wrong answers in reading camp! We just want to read a good book together and talk about it! Students will be provided with engaging, high-interest books at all grade levels with varying levels of choice. Students will then be provided reading kits, which will include their book, at one of our designated lunch pick-up sites. Newark Reads! is open to ALL Newark City Schools students. Please complete the registration form separately for each student. Click here to register for Newark Reads! More +

New student registration update for 2020-21 school year

Due to the ongoing regulations surrounding COVID-19, NCS is not currently finalizing registrations for the 2020-21 school year. This is for incoming kindergarten through 12th grade students. The online forms system is still available, and parents can fill forms out at any time. We will not be making appointments to finalize your student's registration until a later time — at least after May 1, if not later. Student registration for the current school year (2019-20) is still available. Please visit our student registration page by clicking here. More +

NCS Community Message April 3

It has been a wonderful first week of blended learning in the Newark City School District. Earlier this week, Governor DeWine extended the school closure and stay-at-home order to May 1. Our goal as a district during this time is to help students learn from home without overwhelming families. We know that this is a stressful time, and we don’t want to add to that stress level. If you need additional support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or additional contacts that you may have. We have technical support numbers available on our website’s Blended Learning page, as well. More +
