Back-to-school plan for 2020-21
Newark City School District students will begin the year in fully online classes, with opportunities for individual and small group instruction provided in-person. Teachers have been provided with professional development opportunities this summer to improve the online learning experience. There will be more teacher-student interaction through these online platforms. This plan was developed through listening to all groups. The NCS Board of Education met on Tues., Aug. 4, to discuss and approve the plan. The district will continue to work with the health department and evaluate the situation weekly, with the goal of returning to school in-person as soon as possible.  Read More...

The Newark City Schools Preschool program will be completing screenings for children with suspected disabilities on August 3, 4, and 28. If you suspect your child might have a disability and want to have him or her screened by the district, please call 740-670-7025 to schedule an appointment. The Newark Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. The board will discuss the approval of the 2020-21 school calendar and any other business deemed necessary. NCS Safe Restart letter, July 15
Newark City Schools has released some information related to the start of school for the 2020-21 school year. The first day of school will be moved back to August 20 to allow for more professional development and planning time. We are also planning to begin the school year with a blended learning model, with students attending two days per week and at home three days per week. Middle school student tests positive for COVID-19
The Licking County Health Department notified Newark City Schools that a middle school student who has been involved in summer activities has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not attended any activities since prior to being tested. No other students or staff members are believed to be at-risk. Summer activities have not been impacted. The health department is handling contact tracing.   Read More...
