Read Aloud Title: Ninja Red Riding Hood by Corey Rosen Schwartz

Read Aloud Video

Book Introduction: Today I am excited to share one of my favorite fractured fairy tales called Ninja Red Riding Hood.  A fractured fairy tale is one where the author takes a classic fairy tale-in this case Red Riding Hood, and changes some things about it, like the setting or the characters.  In this story the Big Bad Wolf can’t catch his prey with huffing and puffing, so he decides to try going to Ninja school.  As I am reading, I want you to think about how the story is like Red Riding Hood from yesterday, and how it is different.

Writing about Reading: Which Red Riding Hood story did you like better, Red Riding Hood or Ninja Red Riding Hood? Support your thinking with evidence from the text.
