State Farm Building Community forum

Newark City Schools hosted a community forum on Thurs., April 29, to inform the community about plans to the possible purchase of the former State Farm building on Granville Road. Initial plans would be to create a home for a centralized preschool, an expanded space for NCS Digital and for the technology department. The building also presents many opportunities for future partnerships. Please view the presentation above, or click here for a slideshow presentation. April 2021 Citizens of the Month

Superintendent David Lewis was able to visit classrooms across the district this month to congratulate our April 2021 Citizens of the Month. Students are honored monthly based on their actions inside and outside of the classroom at school. They are nominated by their teachers. Usually, students are able to invite their families to a pizza lunch to recognize their achievement. This year, students are being recognized in front of their peers, with a certificate and coupons. Free physicals offered through Licking Memorial

Licking Memorial Health Systems will be offering free physicals for Licking County students entering grades 7-12 participating in sports, marching band or various C-TEC programs, with dates available from May 4 to May 27. Introducing NCS Digital

Newark Digital Academy will be renamed as NCS Digital beginning in the 2021-22 school year, completing the online school’s transition into Newark City Schools. The district will continue serving students in grades K-12 through NCS Digital, depending on student demand. This rebranding brings all of Newark’s online students under the same umbrella and completes the transition that began in 2018.

Community Forum about State Farm building set for April 29

Newark City Schools will host a Community Forum at 6 p.m. on Thurs., April 29, in the Newark High School Auditorium to discuss the State Farm Building opportunity. The forum will also be streamed live to the district’s Facebook page, and will be shown on the district website. During this forum, district administrators and board members will discuss the opportunity to purchase the State Farm building at 1440 Granville Road in Newark.
