Phil Frye, Class of 1989Phil Frye, a 1989 graduate of Newark High School, was the 2015 recipient of the Alumni Citizenship Award. This annual award is bestowed to a Newark High School graduate who has made a significant impact on the lives of others within our community.

Frye and his wife Molly have one child, Grace, who is a student in Newark City Schools.
After graduating from Newark High School in 1989, he attended the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1994.

Frye has been a Realtor and General Manager of Century 21 Frank Frye Real Estate since 2008. He also has been employed by WNKO-WHTH Radio and the Licking County Board of Realtors.

Frye has been very involved in the Newark community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Newark Kiwanis Club, Licking County Crime Stoppers, Hospice of Central Ohio, and the Licking County Coalition for Housing.

He recently joined the Board of Directors of the newly created Newark High School Angels of 1989, which administers a memorial fund to honor deceased classmates by helping current Newark City Schools' students. The fund raises money to be donated to Newark High School in order to purchase school-related items for students in need.

The Importance of Giving Back
"Our Class of 1989 Alumni decided a great way to honor our classmates who are no longer with us, is to help current Newark High School students who are in need of special items that will help them stay in school and graduate,” Frye said. “We want to make an immediate difference in students’ lives by raising money to purchase items that less fortunate students may need, such as clothing, school supplies, or help paying for other school related items."

Advice for Current Students
"My best advice for Newark High School students is to work hard and enjoy every day at Newark High School,” Frye said. “Thank those who have helped them along the way, make a difference in their school and community, follow their dreams, and keep in touch with their classmates after they graduate."
