Hillview Elementary Literacy Coordinator Amy Cox has been awarded the 2019 Leaders for Learning Award from the Licking County Foundation. The awards are presented annually to teachers across Licking County who are selected for their encouragement of all student learning, desire to make a difference in students' lives, a commitment to professional development and outstanding leadership. Leaders for Learning award recipients are presented with an art-glass apple and also receive a $500 award for further professional development or classroom materials.

Mrs. Cox — who has been a teacher and now literacy coordinator at Hillview — was nominated for the award thanks to her continued leadership, according to her nomination to the Licking County Foundation:

"As a literacy coordinator she has been coaching teachers and helping them improve instruction through observation, conferencing and leading professional development. She continues to successfully help boost third grade students to passing scores on the third grade state reading assessment. She is well respected by parents and community members. Mrs. Cox believes every single student can achieve in the areas of reading and writing."
