NCS Community Message 3/25
Good afternoon Newark City Schools families,

We hope you’re having a great break, and we wanted to share a few updates with you.

We have had a lot of requests for devices for families who need them. Your building principal will be contacting you with information about where and when to pick the device up. Please have patience as we try to get devices to you in the most efficient way possible. Please don’t go to your building to get a device unless you have been contacted by a building principal.

It will take us a few days to be able to get all of the devices out to families who have requested them. This will last into next week.

As we prepare for posting our first week of class lessons online, I am reminded of a saying: School is not a place: It’s what is taking place. We have a lot of great opportunities for student learning during this time. Educating at home can be a positive thing.

Our Blended Learning webpage will be posted on our website at www.newarkschools.us by tomorrow evening. Our hope is that this will give families a few days to see what the lessons will look like, and how to access them. Middle school students will be using Google Classroom, while high school students will be using Plato.

These assignments are meant to educate our students and not stress families out. As you plan your day for educating at home, please take time in between assignments to rest, get outside and move around. Break your day up with other activities.

The Newark City Schools staff has done a lot of work in getting these blended learning opportunities ready. We are excited to start connecting with students again as we all adjust.

School is not a place, it is what is taking place, and I’m excited about what is taking place in the Newark City Schools.

Thank you, and have a great night!
