Opening Move / Book Introduction: Think about your happy place. This place is always with you and always will be with you. It may be a special book, a place you like to go to or a person love to share things with. That happy place will always be with you especially during times like these.

Stopping Point #1: Think about someone in your life that has encouraged you and changed your life like Aunt Maggie did for Walt.

Stopping Point #2: What predictions can you make based on your prior knowledge of Walt Disney and what you have learned so far?

Stopping point #3: What does the word bankrupency mean? Use text evidence to support your thinking.

Stopping Point #4: How did the illustrator help you stay entertained throughout the story?

STEM Activity (optional) 

Tasks: STEM: Create a Spinnable Swing Ride (see example picture below) 

During this activity, think about the following.  You can record your thoughts in your notebook:
What were the steps you took to build your device?

Explain how your machine works?  Be sure to identify the forces at work and how your device creates motion.

Did your device work the first time you tried it?  What did you learn about perseverance?

Needed Materials:  
Paper/styrofoam plates, yarn, toilet paper/ paper towel rolls, paper

Answer these two word problems in your notebook:

Natalie and some friends went to the movies. They spent a total of $42.50 on tickets. Each ticket cost $8.50.  How many tickets did they purchase?

Lucy needs 15.5 inches of string for each necklace that she makes. If she has 124 inches of string, how many necklaces can she make?
