Wildcat Spotlight winners for September 2021 - Ben Franklin Elementary
Board members, Treasurer Julio Valladares, Superintendent David Lewis, and Ben Franklin Elementary Principal Dena Cable-Miller stand with Wildcat Spotlight award winners.

During September 2021's regular board meeting, Newark City Schools honored 4 students, a staff member and a community member from Ben Franklin Elementary with Wildcat Spotlights. Congratulations and thank you for your leadership!

Students:
Jackson Batten, Khole Britton, Teagan McClain, and Ayvah Strawser are leaders in our school.  In July 2016, the families of these model students embraced our very first Kindergarten Readiness Academy.  Of the 12 students who joined us for the first Kindergarten Readiness Academy, Jackson, Khole, Teagan, and Ayvah are 4 students who completed all of their elementary years at Ben Franklin Elementary.  Their kindness in our school and community shines bright every day!

Staff member:
Renee French approaches each day as an opportunity to spread sunshine upon everyone's day.  Renee is a master of her craft, a calming presence during challenging times, and a dedicated team member who always places the needs of our school before her own.

Community Member:
Loretta Buchanan is Ben Franklin Elementary's biggest fan and most valuable cheerleader.  Alongside her great-granddaughter Madison Baker, Loretta attends every family event offered in our school.  Loretta is always willing to lend a helping hand, help us generate new ideas for family events, and shares a passion for our students and staff.
