Writing about Reading related to the read aloud text: “Readers can identify (tell) an important fact from the book.”  For example, we learned in the book giraffes have a purple tongue.  What is another fact you learned from the book? Remember to start with the words “I learned…”

Task:

  • Word Problem: There are 9 giraffes at the watering hole, 3 giraffes walk away. How many giraffes are left at the watering hole? 

  • Word Problem: The hamster stored 10 seeds in his cheeks. He was still hungry so he put 4 more seeds in its cheeks. How many seeds does the hamster have now?

  • Shapes: Look around your house and find solid shapes. Solid shapes are things you can pick up like a cup, ball, box, etc. Compare the shapes you find. How are they the same? How are they different?  

  • STEM: Create your own animal with a fun feature. You can draw or build your animals with supplies you can find at home. (paper plates, cups, playdough, q-tips, legos, ect.)
