Title: A Place Where Hurricanes Happen by Renee Watson

This story follows the lives of four fictional characters during the time of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. You will learn about each of the characters' own experiences during this terrible storm. It will be our job to pay special attention to the characters, and think of words we can use to describe them.

STEM: This lesson is an extension to the make your own anemometer activity in the previous lesson. Students will use the graph template provided to create a bar graph measuring wind speed over a one week time period.
Needed Materials:
Math: Daily Wind Speed Graph, a writing utensil
STEM: 5 - 3oz cups, 2 straws, pencil, push pin, hole punch
