Opening Move / Book Introduction: 


Stopping Point #1:  inside flap and title page - What do you think you can expect from this book?  What does fabricated mean?

Stopping Point #2:  after p. 6 - Discuss the author’s use of language as it reflects the time period.

Stopping Point #3: end - Discuss the use of the word “dang” and what it represents.

What makes a tall tale?  What text evidence supports the idea that this is a tall tale?  Give at least two different reasons with evidence.
