March 19 NCS Community Update

Good evening Newark parents, this is Superintendent Doug Ute

This past week has been wonderful as our staff has pulled together to serve students. This is our last planned call of the week, as the district goes onto Spring Break over the next week.

During break, we will still be providing meals for students. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at each of our elementary buildings tomorrow. Next week, meals are available at each elementary plus the Administration building by entering from the back parking lot.

Next week, we will share more information about our expanded locations that will begin on March 30.

As we prepare these blended learning options for students, we are aware that many families do not have devices available at home. We are going to provide one device per family for students who need it. We have received a number of questions about the available devices so far. Please contact your building principal if your family needs a device. If you have already asked, your building will get in touch with you to arrange delivery of a device. We will release more information next week on how we will disperse the devices.

With the arrival of Spring Break, I encourage everyone to take some time to rest and recharge. Please continue to practice social distancing. The governor has also recommended that we cancel our travel plans for next week. Together, we can slow the spread of the coronavirus and get back to normal sooner.

Thank you, and have a great night!
