Opening Move / Book Introduction: Today we’re going to read the book Next Time You See a Cloud by Emily Morgan. As I look at this book, I’m thinking to myself about the genre. Is this fiction or non-fiction and how can I tell? (think aloud non-fiction book features). I know that in non-fiction books, the author has written about a topic for a reason. As I read today, I want you to be thinking about why you think the author chose to write this book.
Stopping Point #1: (pg.10) How does the author work to get our attention and keep us interested so far?
Stopping Point #2: (pg.19) After reading these few pages (pages 16-19) what do you think the author is trying to teach us? If we were to create a heading or a section for this part, what would you call it?
Stopping Point #3: (pg.25) I’m wondering about this word suspended. We saw it before on page 22. Using the illustrations and text, how can we figure out what the word suspended means? What do you think it means?
