Writing About Reading:

Directions:  Use your Google classroom form to respond.  Use evidence from the text in 4-6 sentences.  Use correct spelling and punctuation.


All of these texts were about women who overcame challenges to accomplish their dreams. When thinking about all of the read alouds from this week, why would the author's choose to write these books? (Using the messages to lead to author's purpose)


Math

  1. Go to www.zearn.org and enter your username and password.  You may need your class code from your teacher.

  2. Complete the next lesson on your dashboard.


Science/STEM

Design your own constellation

Guidelines:

  1. You can only use 10 stars in your constellation.

  2. It must contain at least one shape.

  3. You must be able to identify three attributes you have learned about shapes within your constellation.

  4. Stars should be connected with thin lines to create your constellation.


Needed Materials:  Dark background paper and white crayons or colored pencils, ruler, or can draw on notebook paper and pencil.


Optional Activities


Standing Robot


  1.  Roll a die three times to find the dimensions of each of your robot’s body parts.

  2.  Fill in the chart below with your dimensions for each body part.

  3. Calculate the volume of each rectangular prism.  

  4. Calculate the TOTAL volume of the ENTIRE robot.    

  5. IF you have materials at home to make the nets for each body part, create the nets based on these dimensions (one net for each body part).  Tape your rectangular prisms together to create a robot. ****Your robot must be able to stand upright.**** IF you can take a picture and send it to your teacher.

  6. Use the following link to use the online die.  You need to click on the 20 to get the 20 sided die.  Then you will need to click on the 6 to get it off the screen.
