Read Aloud Title: I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman Orloff

Book Introduction:  In this story there is a boy named Alex who is trying to convince his mom to let him have his friend’s baby iguana when he moves away.  Alex is giving his mom all of the reasons and examples that he can think of to try to convince her that he should be allowed to have the pet.  I want you to listen for the reasons that he gives his mom, and we’re going to think about whether or not he has convinced her.  

Writing about Reading: Write about an animal that you would like to have at home.  Include reasons that explain why you should be able to have that animal.
