Back to school information - Aug. 13

The below message was sent to parents on Aug. 13:

The school year begins in just one week, on August 20, and we wanted to share some important information.

Your child’s school is mailing information today about the start of the school year. You should receive this information over the weekend.

We know this will be a challenging start to the school year for everyone, and we are working to make this transition as smooth as possible. Students will go through a somewhat normal daily schedule, meeting online with teachers throughout the day. Classes will end early to allow for additional help or activities in the afternoon.

More information is available on the Back to School page on our website. That page will be linked at the top of our homepage, and also under our Parent and Student dropdown links.

  • If you are in need of a laptop for your child’s education, please click here. Schools will begin providing devices next week, and will communicate with families directly about device availability. We do not have enough devices at this time for all students, but we are working on preparing more.

  • We will be serving paid lunches to-go at our schools from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning on the first day of school. Parents can fill their students’ lunch accounts online through MySchoolBucks by clicking here. We are only able to provide meals for one day at a time currently. Students will also be able to pick up a breakfast package at the same time they pick up lunch.

  • Please fill out the online form for free or reduced price lunches to see if you qualify for free lunches. That application is available by clicking this link. In addition to qualifying for free meals, school fees are waived, and applications also help with district Title 1 and technology funding, which ultimately helps all students.

  • Face-to-face services for special education and preschool will not begin until August 24. Your child’s teachers will be in contact with you. More information about transportation for special needs services will come next week.

We continue to monitor trends related to COVID, and will continue working with our health department in making the decision about when to transition to in-person learning.

Please visit our website for more information as the school year approaches.
