Summer Intervention for students with IEPs - sign up now

Students with IEPs and who receive services for reading, math and/or writing are eligible to sign up for summer intervention. Summer intervention will be held at Newark High School from 8 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday, three weeks during the summer: June 6-9; July 18-21; and August 1-4. You may sign up for one, two or all three weeks. Registration will be required to be completed 7 days prior to the start of each week of intervention. April 2022 Citizens of the Month

Every month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4 through 12 from across the district as Citizens of the Month during a special luncheon. These students are chosen for their leadership, character, respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship. This month’s event was sponsored by the Energy Cooperative. District-wide art show set for April 23 at NHS Commons

Art from K-12 students districtwide will be on display during the Newark City Schools Student Art Show from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, in the Newark High School Commons. The show will include face painting, a concession stand and free make-and-take crafts for the first 100 kids in attendance, plus and art scavenger hunt with prizes for the first 50 kids.

Color Guard Day Camp scheduled for April 15

Any student currently in grades 5-11 is invited to attend the Pride of Newark Color Guard Day Camp being held next Friday, April 15, at the High School Auxiliary Gymnasium. Students will enjoy learning dance and flag routines with a parent performance at the end of the day camp. Kindergarten registrations now open for 2022-23 school year

It's time to register for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year! Children who will turn 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2022, are eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. Sign up now for Kindergarten Readiness Academy

Newark City Schools hosts a four-week Kindergarten Readiness Academy to assist incoming kindergarten students in becoming comfortable in the school setting, while exposing students to letters, numbers, literature, science, math, and art concepts. The program lasts for four days per week from July 11 through August 4. Interested parents can fill out an online application by clicking here. A paper application can be downloaded at this link. Applications must be submitted by May 19; all will be accepted as long as your child is an incoming NCS Kindergarten student.
