Read Aloud Title: The Little Red Hen by Jerry Pinkney Today I will be reading the book, The Little Red Hen. Little Red Hen decides she wants to make some bread. She hopes to have some help from her animal friends. Who will help Little Red Hen as she plants the seeds, prepares the wheat, and bakes the bread? As I am reading, I want you to think about what lesson the author, Jerry Pinkey, is trying to teach us.

Read Aloud Title: Ninja Red Riding Hood by Corey Rosen Schwartz Today I am excited to share one of my favorite fractured fairy tales called Ninja Red Riding Hood. A fractured fairy tale is one where the author takes a classic fairy tale-in this case Red Riding Hood, and changes some things about it, like the setting or the characters. In this story the Big Bad Wolf can’t catch his prey with huffing and puffing, so he decides to try going to Ninja school. As I am reading, I want you to think about how the story is like Red Riding Hood from yesterday, and how it is different.
