This is the last week of our school year. All students need to return their laptops and chargers starting this Thursday, May 26 through June 2 from 8 to 3 pm to the office. The district technology department will install any necessary updates on these devices over the summer. All students will receive a receipt that their laptop was turned in. Please keep this receipt for your records. Newark High School's graduation ceremony will be held this Saturday. This year, NHS will run buses from Newark High School to White Field to alleviate parking and traffic concerns for graduation (5/28). Buses will pick up at the high school and run on a continuous loop to White Field starting at 8:30 am. If you want to avoid parking at White Field, park your car in the NHS Gym parking lot and let NCS transportation get you to/from White Field for graduation! Graduation practice will be held this Friday at 10 am at White Field. Dress is casual and please dress for the weather. Practice will be outside rain or shine. Students must attend practice if they plan to walk at graduation on Saturday.

Students with IEPs and who receive services for reading, math and/or writing are eligible to sign up for summer intervention. Summer intervention will be held at Newark High School from 8 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday, three weeks during the summer: June 6-9; July 18-21; and August 1-4. You may sign up for one, two or all three weeks. Registration will be required to be completed 7 days prior to the start of each week of intervention. Yearbook Distribution Day is this Friday, May 13th. Students who ordered a 2022 NHS yearbook may pick up their yearbook at NHS upstairs in the Dome, starting at 7 AM with giveaways for the first fifty students in line. A limited number of yearbooks will also be available for purchase that morning, first-come, first-served, starting at 7 AM. Yearbooks are sold at the cost of production for $70 by cash or check.Seniors- graduation caps and gowns are available for pick up in the main office. Attention Seniors:A Call to College is now accepting applications for the Last Dollar Grant. The application form and instructions are available on the A Call to College website. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for up to $1,500 of FREE money for college. Stop in the A Call to College office with questions.NHS will hold our annual Signing Day on Friday, May 20th at 8:15 a.m. in the main gym. Parent(s)/ guardian(s) are invited to attend. Any senior (including students from C-Tec and NCS Digital) who has made a final college/military/career-technical decision is invited to participate. Participating seniors should report to the Innovation Center at 7:45 that morning to line up. Every month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4 through 12 from across the district as Citizens of the Month during a special luncheon. These students are chosen for their leadership, character, respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship. This month’s event was sponsored by the Energy Cooperative. Art from K-12 students districtwide will be on display during the Newark City Schools Student Art Show from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, in the Newark High School Commons. The show will include face painting, a concession stand and free make-and-take crafts for the first 100 kids in attendance, plus and art scavenger hunt with prizes for the first 50 kids.
