Principal's Message

 Principal's Message
Cherry Valley is excited about the 2017-18 school year!
We are continuing the PAX Good Behavior Game building-wide. This behavior intervention strategy emphasizes recognizing positive behavior and increasing time on task. Teachers will award “wacky prizes” to reward students for appropriate behavior. Students enjoy earning their rewards. Parents should recognize students at home if they receive a “Tootle” or bring home positive comments from their teacher. You should also talk with your students about how “The Good Behavior Game” is played at Cherry Valley and how you can play at home.
Breakfast is available daily (except on late start days) to all students and it is FREE of charge. We encourage all students to get a free breakfast that includes milk, fresh fruit, cereal or cereal bar, and usually a juice box and multi-grain snack.
Parents play a vital role in the education of their children. Two areas are especially important for parents to reinforce at home. Those areas are math and reading. Parents should be reading with their son or daughter for 30 minutes each night. The reading material should be something the student enjoys and on their reading success level. Another area parents can help with is basic math facts. Parents should practice with students for 10 minutes each night to help them learn their basic math facts. Grades K-2 should concentrate on basic addition and subtraction and grades 3-5 should work on basic multiplication and division facts.

Students should be at school everyday. There is a direct correlation between attendance and student achievement. We understand kids will get sick from time to time or have appointments they must attend. If your son or daughter is going to be absent, please call the attendance line anytime at 740-670-7333 and leave a message telling the reason for their absence.

Our school day is from 8:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m..

If you have questions or concerns; please stop in the school during these times to discuss them. I would be glad to make an appointment to talk with you at other times also. We want you to feel welcome here at Cherry Valley. The success of your son or daughter is very important to us.
