April 2021 Citizens of the Month
Superintendent David Lewis was able to visit classrooms across the district this month to congratulate our April 2021 Citizens of the Month. Students are honored monthly based on their actions inside and outside of the classroom at school. They are nominated by their teachers. Usually, students are able to invite their families to a pizza lunch to recognize their achievement. This year, students are being recognized in front of their peers, with a certificate and coupons. Free physicals offered through Licking Memorial
Licking Memorial Health Systems will be offering free physicals for Licking County students entering grades 7-12 participating in sports, marching band or various C-TEC programs, with dates available from May 4 to May 27. Introducing NCS Digital
Introducing NCS Digital

Newark Digital Academy will be renamed as NCS Digital beginning in the 2021-22 school year, completing the online school’s transition into Newark City Schools. The district will continue serving students in grades K-12 through NCS Digital, depending on student demand. This rebranding brings all of Newark’s online students under the same umbrella and completes the transition that began in 2018.

Board meeting start time changes to 5:30 p.m.

The Newark City School District Board of Education will move its regular meeting start time to 5:30 p.m. moving forward, beginning with the April 12 meeting. Meetings previously began at 6:30 p.m. The Board meets regularly on the second Monday of each month except for November’s meeting, which is on November 15. Meetings are held in Room 151 at the Administrative Service Center, 621 Mount Vernon Road in Newark.
