NHS Drama presents Radium Girls on Nov. 15 and 16
The Newark High School drama department will present its fall play, "Radium Girls," at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15, and 5 p.m. on Nov. 16, in the NHS Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for students and senior citizens. In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Called a "powerful" and "engrossing" drama by critics, Radium Girls offers a wry, unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.  Read More...

Triple P Raising Resilient Children seminar set for Nov. 21
Triple P Raising Resilient Children seminar set for Thurs., Nov. 21, at the Licking County Family YMCA. Raising Reslient Children is a seminar that helps lower the stress of parenting by equipping parents with skills to help their children manage stressful life events, develop life skills to manage emotions and cope with feelings. The YMCA will provide food and beverages, a free gift card raffle and free childcare for ages 7 and under. NHS hosting Parent Interest meeting for possible STEM trip to Germany and Switzerland
Newark High School science teachers are exploring a 2021 student trip to Germany and Switzerland that will be focused on sustainable living and farming in those countries. We are hosting a Parent Interest meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 19, in room G-314 at the high school. John Clem Elementary to celebrate 60th birthday with open house
John Clem Elementary is hosting an open house celebrating the 60th birthday of General John Clem Elementary from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 13, at the school. Please join us at the school for light refreshments, selfies with the John Clem statue and photo, a presentation and more. Hillview Elementary Literacy Coordinator Amy Cox has been awarded the 2019 Leaders for Learning Award from the Licking County Foundation. The awards are presented annually to teachers across Licking County who are selected for their encouragement of all student learning, desire to make a difference in students' lives, a commitment to professional development and outstanding leadership. Leaders for Learning award recipients are presented with an art-glass apple and also receive a $500 award for further professional development or classroom materials.  Read More...
